GFGCF provides an opportunity for school students to obtain their volunteer hours as required by scholarship programs. This also provides a good opportunity for a senior project where the student combines a research paper with a project and volunteer hours. GFGCF will provide a sponsor to mentor the student, sign the necessary project and volunteer hour forms and critique the research paper if computer related. GFGCF requires that the volunteer hours be completed prior to beginning the project.
Volunteering at GFGCF will complement the A+ hardware and software classroom training with practical experience gained by refurbishing used computers. This experience will provide the context to facilitate classroom learning and improve job skills and marketability in the local job market. An additional benefit is the opportunity to give back to the community and to network with other volunteers with computer knowledge and careers. Eagle Scout Candidates: The Gift from God Computer Foundation may provide a good opportunity for an Eagle Scout Candidate to do this Leadership Service. Leadership skills could be demonstrated by a fund raising project. The funds raised would be used to purchase computer components and licenses for refurbished computers. A team of scouts could also volunteer at the foundation to assist with computer refurbishment and other general tasks. The computers that the scouts help to refurbish would then be donated to students or other individuals that lack technology access. Please contact GFGCF at volunteers@giftfromgodcomputerfoundation.org for more information about volunteering Thursday nights. Click this link for a Volunteer Information Package (pdf 1 Mb) Hardware Donations may be dropped of at our Oviedo Facility on any Monday & Wednesday, (when not a Holiday) from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. |
